All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) - Overview
All India Institute of Medical Science or AIIMS is an autonomous institution funded by the Union Government of India. It is located in India’s capital, New Delhi. It was established in the year 1956. AIIMS is basically a medical college and hospital. Medical professionals from all over the world had recently begun coming to AIIMS for further training and exposure to rare diseases that are not common in their home country.
AIIMS is one of India’s Institutes of National Importance. This is a category of India’s distinguished and premier institutions. AIIMS is specifically located in Ansari Nagar, an upscale locality in South Delhi. This region is commonly referred as “medical” because of a great number of health care organizations situated in the place. It lies on the Inner Ring Road and is adjacent to the South Delhi Market. AIIMS is also regarded more as a referral center.
AIIMS offers various services on almost all areas of Medicine. It is the first Indian medical center to perform a successful cardiac transplant. It is also has the first and only minimally invasive surgery training center in India. AIIMS provide services to Indian residents and international patients all over the world. It also has specialty centers which include: Cardio-Thoracic Sciences Center, Center for Dental Education and Research, Neurosciences Center, etc.
