The Bangkok General Hospital is a part of Thailand’s largest hospital group, the Bangkok Hospital Group. It is a medical center primarily serving patients with concerns in internal medicine, general surgery, and paediatrics. It houses several specialty centers which include Endocrinology (Diabetes), Nephrology, Gynecology, Radiology, Urology, Orthopedics, GI, ENT, cosmetic surgery, and eye and LASIK.

This hospital serves as a referral center of smaller medical facilities lacking in certain diagnostic and treatment facilitates. Furthermore, it is one of the largest hospitals in Thailand. The Bangkok General Hospital was established in 1972. It is the flagship hospital of the Bangkok Hospital Group and the largest hospital at Bangkok Hospital Medical Center (BMC). It offers a full range of medical services. In addition, it houses most of the surgical facilities and equipments of BMC.

It has a 400 in-patient bed capacity and is the center of activity for most patients that come to BMC. It serves Thai locals as well as medical tourists from 160 countries around the world. Most international patients come from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and The Netherlands.
