Dr. García-Foncillas is a certified specialist in medical oncology and holds a PhD from the University of Navarra. Training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Director of the oncology department and the Clinical Genetics Unit at the University of Navarra Clinic and the CIMA Pharmacogenetics Laboratory at the University of Navarra.
Areas of specialization: application of basic research in the clinical field in cancer treatment and diagnosis and the search for prognostic and predictive biomarkers.
Positions: Secretary of the ASEICA, Co-Coordinator of Genomics and Proteomics of the Cancer Center Network at the Carlos III Healthcare Institute, voting member of the board to the Hereditary Cancer Section of the SEOM, and the board of the Spanish Federation of Oncological Societies, member of the Royal Academic of Medicine of Zaragoza and an honorary member of the Mexican Oncology Society. President of the Mediterranean Oncology Society. Member of the board of trustees of the Health 2000 Foundations, founding trustee and secretary of the Permanent Commission of the ECO Foundation, member of the
Biosequence International Advisory Committee. Vice-President of the National Medical Oncology Commission of the Specializations Board at the Ministry for Health and Consumer Affairs from 2007 to 2014.
