INDICATIONS

Indications for rehabilitation at cereneo following the acute treatments are stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and movement disorders, brain tumor as well as spinal and peripheral nerve injury.

cereneo`s specialised team, consisting of doctors, speech therapists, movement therapists (OT/PT), neuropsychologists, rehabilitation nurses, nutritionists and researchers, offers highly personalised and intensive therapies, in combination with state-of-the-art equipment such as robotic assistive devices, e.g. ZeroG setup, ArmeoPower and Virtual Reality training.

TREATMENT CONCEPT

Our goal at cereneo is to lead patients back to an independent life. This is often a very challenging and long process which cannot be fully accomplished during an inpatient stay. Therefore, the cereneo team has developed a unique concept to help patients along their entire recovery process beyond their inpatient stay to ensure a seamless support from intense and highly personalised therapy in our rehabilitation clinic, over therapy at home to telerehabilitation. This approach is geared to enable patients taking their health and recovery into their own hands, to provide tools and ideas to self-manage rehabilitation in daily life settings and to ultimately empower individuals to take ownership of their lives again. By continuously monitoring the progress of patients using sensory equipment, we are able to quickly adapt treatment measures to ensure fast recovery and to shorten the time in hospital.

A crucial factor at cereneo is to involve the relatives of patients into the recovery process, thus creating a familiar and trustful atmosphere to optimise the success of the treatments.

A personal and empathic setting, where patients feel taken care of is equally important. The interdisciplinary team works hand in hand to ensure a tailor-made therapy matching the individual needs of each patient to ensure fast progress in recovery. CONTINUOUS REHABILITATION AS A KEY SUCCESS FACTOR

Continuous rehabilitation is clearly a key success factor in the recovery journey of each patient. To get the best rehabilitation, it is crucial to start as fast as possible with a tailor-made, intensive and empathic training in order to achieve maximum recovery. We offer our patients continuous support in their recovery process. Therefore, we have established the cereneo@home offering, where we help patients in the transition phase from any rehabilitation centre to their homes, support relatives and family members during this difficult time and train with the patient at home. Experienced cereneo therapists travel with the patients to their homes, train local support teams to continue the therapy and guide family members and patients through all the difficult decisions they need to make. With increasing progress of the patients, the at home support can be substituted by teletherapy via digital channels. This will give patients more flexibility while getting continuous support on their way to a normal life.

TELEREHABILITATION FOR ONGOING PROGRESS

cereneo telerehabilitation provides patients with a comprehensive neurorehabilitation programme covering all aspects of neurorehabilitation. The focus is on speech and language, movement and cognitive therapy, regular assessments of the progress and consultations with a neurologist. Nutritional counselling can be integrated when needed. The service is complemented by digital training and measurement devices that will assist our patients to assess their daily personal challenges, train and show them their progress. Telerehabilitation can easily be integrated into daily routine.

cereneo Hertenstein is connected to the Campus Hotel Hertenstein, a modern hotel located directly at Lake Lucerne. Family members can stay in one of the private apartments next to the clinic. Patients can enjoy a variety of activities designed to allow them to explore the surrounding area and recharge their batteries for the intensive rehabilitation programme. The newly built clinic offers state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities and equipment as well as modern accommodations. Our medical specialists care for one patient, and so, on the one hand, individual requests can be met and, on the other hand, treatment is delivered as personalized and interdisciplinary therapy.

INTERNATIONAL PATIENTS

Patients from all over the world come to cereneo for rehabilitation.  All aspects of an international patient’s stay, starting from the first contact up to finishing the rehabilitation treatment are accompanied by a multilingual team.  Our team takes care of all administrative and organisational issues before, during and after a patient’s stay, paying special attention to his or her personal, cultural and travel-related needs. Each patient has a person of contact who will accompany the patient during the whole stay. The person of contact supports the patient with his or her wishes, goals and personal requirements.

The USZ and cereneo have developed a treatment approach that allows us to provide high quality care for gold standard Parkinson treatments at USZ and long-term rehabilitation at cereneo.

ETH Zürich

Together with ETH Zürich (D-HEST, Prof. Gassert, Prof. Riener), cereneo develops sensor technologies to be able to monitor stroke patients during their daily life. Metrics are also developed for measuring therapy effects and being able to inform doctors and patients about the progress of their recovery.

Hocoma

In the partnership with Hocoma, cereneo develops new devices and robots for training arms and legs and tests their use in clinical studies.

John Hopkins University

Together with Johns Hopkins University, cereneo performs randomised, clinical studies in the area of arm rehabilitation using new robot training approaches.

Twente University

Twente University (Biomedical Signals and Systems, Prof. Dr. ir. Peter Veltink) and cereneo develop sensor and feedback technology for stroke patients.
