- Dr Shabnam Roohi has immense experience in the field of Haematopathology.
- Her area of work involves the Interpretation of Bone Marrow Aspirates, Hemoglobin Electrophoresis, Trouble Shooting, training & team building.
- Having 11 years of experience in this field, she joined Apollo Hospitals Bangalore, as a Haemetopathologist and is now the Lab Director.
- She started her career as a registrar in the department of pathology; Apollo hospitals Chennai which is a large tertiary care hospital. Here she gained knowledge and experience from the very busy laboratory that receives more than 1, 50,000 samples in a year.
- After an initial rotation in all fields of pathology such as haematology, onco-haematology, general pathology, onco pathology and cytology she developed special interest in haematology and onco-haematology.
- She later continued in the department of haematology and clinical pathology. She had the opportunity of diagnosing more the 1,00,000 peripheral smears, 1000 bone marrow aspirates and 2000 haemoglobinopathies in a year.
- She was quickly promoted as a junior consultant based on her dedication and depth of knowledge.
- After spending 5 years in haematology and clinical pathology department during which time she was instrumental in streamlining procedures and processes and in improving the efficiency and quality of the lab she was given the opportunity of heading the haematology lab at Apollo hospitals, Bangalore.
- She set up the haematology lab at Apollo hospitals Bangalore with the same high standards of quality. But she does not rest at achieving quality as she knows that quality is just a mile stone and not a destination.
- She strives to continually improve the test menu by constantly adding newer tests and deleting obsolete tests.
