• Prof. Alon Ben-Nun MD, PhD., Head of Thoracic Surgery Department, he is MD and PhD graduate from the Medical School, Ben- Gurion University of the Negev. Prof. Ben-Nun has conducted clinical research aimed at improving the quality of treatment of patients with chest trauma and has published numerous articles and monographs in the field of thoracic surgery, esophagus, lung and trachea.
• He is the winner of several prestigious awards in the field of education and research on care for the sick and Laureate of President of Israel for outstanding medical activities. The Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Sheba Medical Center is dedicated to General Thoracic surgery, and is medically separated from cardiac surgery. Our team has a wide experience with the entire range of thoracic surgical procedures including: pulmonary, mediastinal, esophageal, chest wall, diaphragmatic and trauma surgery.
• Over 400 operations are performed annually. Pediatric patients requiring lung and mediastinal surgery, or correction of congenital malformations are treated by the department’s team in collaboration with the department of pediatric surgery. The thoracic team participates in several multidisciplinary research programs dealing with various aspects of general thoracic surgery.
