Sheba Medical Center - overview
The Sheba Medical Centre is the largest of its kind not only in Israel but in the Middle East. It is situated just outside the fascinating city of Tel Aviv and is home to 150 departments and clinics. It was founded in 1948 and has achieved international recognition for its medical services, research and schools of teaching.
The 1,400 doctors are true medical experts and are renowned for their compassionate care of patients. They perform about 31,000 surgeries annually and are assisted by some 2,600 qualified nurses in their work. English is widely spoken, along with other main languages.
The Sheba Medical Centre has 1,700 beds and family rooms are offered for those that wish to stay and support the patient. Private rooms with all modern conveniences are available on request.
The Sheba Medical Centre was the first medical centre in Israel to provide patients with artificial hearts. The first test tube baby was born here and the only Pediatric hospital in Israel is located in the Sheba medical centre.
