Description of Breast Implant Surgery
Breast implantation or breast
augmentation mammoplasty, does not matter how we call, is a plastic surgery
procedure that aims to increase the size, to change the shape and enhance the
contour of the breast.
How it is performed?
Although the surgery can be done under local
anesthesia with sedation, Our Surgeon, Rıza Inan Kocaarslan generally advise
general anesthesia to the patients. Therefore, as with most surgery, patient
first have blood and anesthesia test done first before procedure. In the most common technique, doctor makes an incision
along the underside of patient breast. Afterwards, the surgeon places the
implant through this opening. The implants may place below or above the
pectoral muscle. With the submuscular placement method, implants are inserted
under the pectoral muscle. There are two types of ‘Mentor’ brand implants that
are used by our hospital. The first and most demanded one is round silicone.
The other one is called as teardrop. The placement method, the type and the
size of silicone will be determined after the first examination according to
the patient’s breast and chest size as well as according to patient’s wishes.
At the end of operation, doctor closes the incisions
with sutures or stitches. Stitches and surgical tape close the skin and keep it
closed. At first days, the incision lines can be visible; however it will fade
out day by day.
Days of Stay
Breast augmentation surgery is mostly performed under
general anesthesia and takes two to three hours. The patient accommodates one
night at Lokman Hekim Esnaf Hospital. After the post examination session,

After Care

start to decrease each day with the help of medications. You can take a shower following day of
surgery. Patient may be able to return to work within a few days to a week
however it is advisable to minimize excessive physical activity for at least
the first few weeks after operation.
