What is coronary angiography?
Coronary angiography is a procedure used to examine the coronary arteries. coronary arteries are the arteries that carry fresh blood from your heart to your organs.

Coronary angiogram is performed using a technique called cardiac catheterisation, which involves using a catheter (a long, flexible, plastic tube) to reach your heart. The cathter is inserted through your groin or arm arteries.

What is the purpose of Coronary Angiography?
The angiography test can show if any coronary arteries are blocked, where they are blocked, and the severity of the blockages.

Is it painful?
You will be under local anesthesia and usually will fill little or no pain.

Duration of procedure/surgery:
30 to 60 minutes

Days admitted:
The procedure be done as a day surgery, and in some cases you may stay overnight.

Anesthesia:
Local anaesthesia

Recovery:
A few hours at the hospital.

Risks:
The risk of serious complications is low, ranging from 1 in 500 to 1 in 1,000.
